Why Brushing Your Teeth Can Be Hazardous to Your Health

This presentation is entitled

Brushing Your Teeth May Be Hazardous To Your Health!

The Centers for Disease Control states that 50% of the population over 25 years old and 70% over 65 years of age has periodontal disease.

We know that periodontal disease (an inflammatory disease) is the most common and costly disease on earth. Systemic diseases associated with periodontal disease are numerous and expensive, both in terms of medication and hospitalization, and in terms of the diminishing health, longevity and productivity of the patient, and economy at large.

Systemic diseases include those from cardiovascular disease, diabetes, breast and many other cancers, chronic kidney disease, Alzheimer’s, and more. Multiple studies point to the link between periodontal disease and systemic diseases and document the costs and overall savings associated with treating periodontal disease.

So if tooth brushing isn’t working to prevent oral microbial triggers of disease, it begs the question, what will?

Wouldn’t it be a wonderful gift to offer our patients the best possible home oral care available when we know the traditional methods (tooth brushing and flossing) we have been using aren’t working?

Piero  Policicchio, DDS presents a methodology to replace the tooth brush that actually does the work we would like a toothbrush to do.

This new technology has undergone FDA approval and clinical research to show the dramatic improvement of the new device over using a tooth brush. These improvements are illustrated in the removal of biofilm and the reductions in HbA1c, microbial parameters and clinical parameters without the use of drug intervention.

Dr. Piero, Dental Air Force® inventor and CEO of Air Force Inc. graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, and has practiced dentistry since 1982.

His latest clinical trial studies using Dental Air Force, in conjunction with periodontal therapy compared to tooth brushing and flossing in diabetic patients showed a reduction in the diabetic blood marker HbA1c.

His published article topics include periodontal health and its relationship with heart disease, respiratory health, diabetes, stroke, and other systemic diseases. He is the former Executive Editor of the prestigious Journal of Experimental Dental Science, a contributing author to Hospital Infection Control: Clinical Guidelines, and author of Never Brush Your Teeth Again!
